Today is also a good day because SJ held their first solo concert in Taiwan. Of course, only 10 out of the 13 members showed up. Hangeng's appearance was reduced to the 3 seconds in the intro video. I guess he really is leaving SM. Updates on his lawsuit were also posted yesterday, but because I don't understand any legal procedures and terms, it meant very little to me. I personally feel like he has a very good chance of winning and leaving SM. Jaejoong/Junsu/Yoochun's case set a very good example. If Hangeng did not get the same legal protection, then he really should sue for discrimination next lol.
Speaking of management, my favorite Korean actor, LEE JUN KI, signed with JG Company Inc. JG is a new establishment, and it will solely be managing Junki's activities. One-man-management system, Lee Junki is the only artist under JG. What are the advantages/disadvantages of this one-man system compared to other management companies like SM?
Advantages: 1) company focuses on YOU, the artist! 2) company will be nicer and more negotiable because it does not want to lose you because you are their only source of income. 3) since the company manage every part of your life (activities, endorsements, legal issues, etc.), less conflicts of schedule and etc.
Disadvantages: the main one is that the company has limited power and influence. Take SM for example, MBC/SBS/Mnet/other TV stations want to be buddies with SM because SM has many artists. To keep SM happy, they must let F(x) and other less popular/new artists on their shows so popular ones like DBSK, SJ, etc. will come too. You probably don't want to sign with a one-man system if you are a new artist.
Relating to the US, Epik High was on CNN's Talk Asia. I haven't seen the show, and I'm not really into Epik High. so yeah my comments are 1) reminds me of the days when F4, Taiwanese boy band that goes by the name JVKV now, and Wang Lee Hom, the most perfect man on earth, were on CNN. F4 is the most popular Taiwanese boy band since the Little Tigers (1989-1996) and before Fahrenheit (2006-now). They were in the first drama version of BOF/Hana Yori Dango, the most important Asian manga and drama for the past 15 years. and of course, they are my first favorite boy band. Wang Lee Hom, ABC (American Born Chinese) singer, is perfect. Born in NY state in 1976, second of three sons, can play violin/piano/erhu/drums/and ~10 other instruments, got a perfect SAT score and got into Yale, received formal music training at Eastman School of Music/Williams College(undergraduate)/Berklee(graduate), established his own genre of music (Chinked-out, blend of Chinese and Western music), and last but not least very very good looking :). 2) KPOP IS INVADING THE US MARKET!! slowly but surely....
Ok I'm writing this in English class...... so it's every random. what else did I want to comment on?
DBSK broke ORICON record again...... 413,000 copies of their first BEST album. not surprised at all :)
Shanghai World Expo. China has a huge influence on Korea's economy. so Yunho, F(x), SJM, and other Kpop artists will be in the Expo commercial/advertisement and concert in May. SJM....... I don't think Hangeng will be in it, but...... we will see.
